Balancing two core missions and meeting guest expectations requires Hanaholmen to maintain a reliable and secure IT environment.

Frendy has been Hanaholmen’s IT partner for more than ten years, ensuring smooth daily operations and developing IT with a business‑driven approach. The partnership is built on Frendy’s comprehensive understanding of Hanaholmen’s operations and business needs, regular communication, and mutual trust.

“In our daily work, it’s clear that Frendy is genuinely interested in what we do. It’s important for us to have a true partner – not just a call centre,” says Kai Mattsson, Hotel Director.

IT plays a key role in a busy and demanding operating environment

Hanaholmen does not have its own IT department, which means Frendy is responsible for maintaining, supporting and developing the IT environment in direct cooperation with the management team. The hotel operates around the clock, meetings are held at a rapid pace, and the restaurant delivers experiences for a wide variety of guests.

“Things can’t wait – they need to be solved immediately. The IT environment has a direct impact on the customer experience,” Mattsson says.

Sopiva IT enables smooth everyday operations and a roadmap for development

Hanaholmen uses Frendy’s Sopiva IT service package, which supports both smooth day‑to‑day operations and the long‑term development of IT.

Sopiva IT provides Hanaholmen with:

  • a reliable and streamlined IT environment that does not burden daily operations
  • fast and skilled user support without the need for an in‑house IT department
  • predictable costs
  • a scalable service package
  • a roadmap that enables continuous IT development

For the management, the service is most visible in the time it saves and the confidence that IT runs reliably in the background as it should.

Towards a more modern and lightweight cloud environment

Hanaholmen is currently undergoing a cloud transition, moving files and services to the Microsoft 365 environment and phasing out its own servers.

“With the introduction of the new hotel system, we saw an opportunity to modernise our environment. We want to make work lighter and clearer – and the cloud supports that goal,” says Agneta Roine, CFO.

The cloud transition will streamline information management, make mobile work easier and reduce the need for maintenance. Frendy is responsible for planning and implementing the entire process and ensuring that the change is carried out in a controlled manner with minimal impact on the business.

Cybersecurity requires continuous development

Hanaholmen hosts high‑profile events attended by international delegations and distinguished guests. Environments like these naturally draw the interest of cybercriminals.

“Developing our cybersecurity is an ongoing task. We receive visits from high‑level individuals, from presidents to royalty. We must be able to trust that everything works and that our partner knows what they are doing,” Mattsson says.

Frendy has long supported Hanaholmen in developing its cybersecurity — from modernising the network to training staff. As part of the cloud transition, Hanaholmen will adopt the security features of Microsoft 365 Business Premium, further strengthening its readiness against modern threats.

Hanaholmen has a long history, and IT must continue to support the organisation’s development in the future as well.

The partnership continues beyond the modernization

Once the cloud transition is complete, Hanaholmen’s IT environment will be more modern, lightweight and secure. It will support both the organisation’s daily service operations and its broader public mission.

Regular meetings and the Sopiva IT roadmap ensure that new development needs are continuously identified and that IT remains aligned with Hanaholmen’s operational goals.

Roine summarises: “Frendy knows our house and the world we operate in. We can trust that things will continue to evolve and be taken care of in the future as well.”
